Time for Part Deux of my 2018 voice over business evolution.
For this session I want to talk about how I stepped WAY out of my comfort zone. The 2 occasions I’ll talk about are HUGE for me. The first one was at the beginning of the year, when I walked into a recording studio unannounced and met the staff. That meeting directly led to me being placed on their roster! It also pivoted to a story featured on one of my favorite podcasts, the VO Meter. Here’s the link:
The other was a dream job that came on my radar over the summer when a certain musician released his first book. Now, I’ve never recorded an audiobook, just like they’d never written a book, so I felt I had nothing to lose by giving it a try. I took the initiative to record a sample of the book, then created an opportunity to give it to them when I saw their band play in town. He and I had a great conversation about the book business in general, and while nothing’s happened yet (call me)… the fact I went out on a limb like that was HUGE!
This ties up all the positive things that happened this year in my business. But, we all know it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. So, the next blog is going to talk about my mistakes in 2018.
In the meantime, be sure to keep up with my other posts on my social media pages, or my website stephen george vo -dot-com. See you next time.
