Hey everyone, I’m Stephen George and this is the first in a limited series of video blogs about my voice over business. To get started, I wanted to talk about New Year’s Resolutions. We’re right around the corner from January First. A recent study showed 80% of people who make resolutions give up before February starts. As a rule, I don’t make resolutions. I believe there’s always room for improvement, whether it’s January First, March 18th, or July 27th. 

So Before I look ahead to 2019, it’s important for me to look back on the year to see how I’ve evolved, before I can determine how to move ahead.

I committed to training. Over the course of several consecutive months I met weekly with coaches to improve my skillset. I came out of training more confident about my abilities than ever. 

Improved offerings. Over the summer I recorded a new commercial demo. A Commercial demo is considered a standard in the industry. I started my career on a different path, and while I intend to stay slightly off-center, sometimes it’s easier to book work when potential clients listen to something they’re more attuned to hearing (i.e. commercials)

Upgraded equipment. My studio features a Blue Kiwi microphone and now a new Audient ID4 interface. In 2019, I’m adding a travel rig to incorporate work while on the road.
